Relax, Restore and Realign...

The Bowen Technique is a gentle and remedial 'hands on - hands off' therapy used to treat a wide range of body conditions. The aim of Bowen is to gently encourage the body to initiate its own healing process, and to bring the body into balance and alignment.

The Bowen Technique works with the body's bio-energetic and nervous system. During a treatment the therapist uses fingers and thumbs to make gentle rolling moves over muscles, tendons, ligaments and superficial fascia around the body. This light - yet powerful - move causes a disturbance in the system, creating internal connections and encouraging the body to initiate self healing.

Common conditions that often respond well to The Bowen Technique include:

Allergies, arthritis, asthma, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, depression, digestive/bowel issues, fatigue, fertility problems, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, hay fever, hip replacements, infertility, joint pain, knee pain, low immunity, menstrual problems, migraines, M.E, neck pain, postural problems, pregnancy, RSI, shoulder pain, sports injuries, sciatica, sleep problems, stress and structural and skeletal imbalances.

However this list is by no means complete - as a holistic therapy, The Bowen Technique may assist with many more body issues. The Bowen Technique observes how the entire body is afflicted by an issue rather than isolating the issue to one area.

Another key element of The Bowen Technique is the short breaks where the client is left to rest. These breaks give the clients body time and space to absorb the moves, and to begin healing in its own natural way. There is no force in Bowen, only light moves which makes the treatment a very relaxing one, suitable for all ages and body types, including babies and the elderly.

Time is an important factor of Bowen, which is why we advise clients to leave a week gap between treatments (having no other different treatments in this time). Most clients see an improvement after around x3 treatments a week apart and may return for 'top-ups' periodically, however some may feel just one treatment is enough, while others may return weekly. This is ultimately a decision for the client to make on listening to their own body's needs.

Emily studied and qualified with the European College of Bowen Studies in 2011 and is pleased to be practicing at Zamora from Mon & Tues 4 - 7pm and ALL DAY Thursdays 10 - 7pm.
